I was shook when there was some gist about a couple people comparing Asa to Simi.
Number two – Simi is a stronger vocalist than ASA. YEAH I SAID IT!

I saw it and I’m just here like “Wait whatttttt?! How? When? Why? WHAT?!”
People comparing Simi to Asa
— Asake (@Asakello) October 23, 2017
I like simi infact love her but never disrespect Asa like that. Are you normal? https://t.co/6wyCN2vIIZ

That was my first reaction really. I was insulted on Asa’s behalf. Like y’all put some ‘respeck’ on Asa’s name fam. But then eventually I realized that maybe; just maybe, the two women might not really be so very different. Chill. Don’t eat me up just yet. I can explain, I promise
Asa’s “Preacher Man” and Simi’s “Remind Me”…
Different times, different tunes, different artistes, same song.

First of all, let’s talk lyrics. Simi is one of the very few musicians who still give us songs with actual lyrical content. Her ‘Love Don’t Care’, ‘Smile For Me’ and some of her songs are actually real deep. But… she does have some songs that just get me like “Sigh. What is this one again?” Asa on the other hand… ‘Jailer’, ‘Fire on the Mountain’, ‘The One Who Never Comes’, ‘Eyo’. Asa is practically a fountain of knowledge, and she pours it out in her every single song.
When it comes to lyrical content, I feel like Simi is still in that delicate place where she’s trying to decide if she should be deep or just give the party loving audience what they want, and I’m afraid it’s a decision that could either make or mar her career. I think lyrically, Asa has this one.
Simi needs to be managed or she won t last in long. She should be in asa and aramide kind of singing level

Someone said Simi is up to Asa’s level musically.
With due respect, just Asa’s “Jailer” single is worth more than Simi’s music career.

And then, let’s take a second to examine their voices. Asa has a beautiful voice. Like absolutely beautiful voice with a unique lustre. But if I’m going to be completely honest, Simi’s voice might just be easier to listen to for the not-so-musically-literate public. I’m not wiling to say that Simi has a better voice, but I am willing to concede that she has a voice that’s easy on the ears. I’d give Simi this one.
They’re saying Simi is better than Asa and I don’t agree but she does have a sweeter voice. That I can admit.

Versatility: This is very important in musicians, so let’s look at this critically. Simi has been known to delve into different kinds of music. She’s shown the ability to flow with different paces. Asa has stuck to the slower paced music, but from time to time she pops up with some faster paced songs like ‘Eyo’ and ‘Satan be Gone’. Plus she plays four different instruments, so I think Asa wins this one. One more point for Asa.
Exactly the more reason why they aren’t mates. Plus I’m not sure of Simi bit I know Asa plays about four instruments and writes music.

International recognition: I don’t even think this one is debatable to any level honestly. Asa is way more widely recognized than Simi, so yeah Asa obviously wins this one.
Asa is no one’s mate, legends get excited whenever they work with asa. Do u know how many artists are dying to work with her? Simi is no where near abeg.
— 21st Century Man (@I_amIdris) October 20, 2017
I do admit that Simi is amazing, and shows a whole lot of promise, but I still think she’s not high enough on the scale to be compared with Asa. I’m willing to reach a compromise though, so maybe Simi might be the next Asa?

Such a beautiful compliment. Asa is a legend to me. https://t.co/ttBiXCcId2
