A Mississippi Deputy has filed a lawsuit against R&B singer, R Kelly accusing the singer of wrecking his marriage.
According to the lawsuit, Hinds County Deputy, Kenny Bryant claimed that he had suffered “emotional, psychological and financial loss” due to the actions of the singer.
He stated that his wife, Asia Childress admitted to having a relationship with Kelly before they got married in July 2012 and that her relationship with the singer ended before their wedding.
Childress allegedly rekindled her romance with the singer shortly after she and Bryant married.
Bryant said he was unaware that the two were frequently communicating. Childress and R. Kelly communicated via text message, phone calls and in-person visits, the lawsuit says.
“Each time R. Kelly would have a concert in a nearby state, Childress would disappear to reunite with her love,” the suit says.
Bryant also claims that Childress convinced him to move from Mississippi to Georgia, claiming that the move would benefit her career but in reality, the motive was to foster her relationship with R. Kelly.
According to the lawsuit, Bryant quit his job and moved to Atlanta, but was unable to find a good job.
“As a result of her adulterous relationship with R. Kelly, Childress endeavored to live a lifestyle that surpassed her economic abilities and convinced Bryant to aid her in living beyond her means” therefore making him suffer “grievous mental and emotional distress” and “financial ruin” The court document says.
According to the court document, Childress repeatedly traveled to nearby states to attend R. Kelly concerts and rendezvous with the singer. The suit also alleges that Childress contracted chlamydia from the singer around the time they began seeing each other again.
He also claims that Childress’s subsequent request for a divorce was the result of the nearly five-year long relationship that his wife had with the 50-year-old musician.
