Governor of Benue State has advised Benue residents to adopt any legal means of self-defense when attacked by herdsmen.
He expressed disappointment in the police force present in Benue state as their presence has not helped to control the incessant killings in the state, but without the police, how much can the helpless residents do?
There is no denial that killings have persisted in the state despite the intervention of the Police. Three NNPC officials were attacked and one Killed by suspected Herdsmen in Torkum community Benue state on 29th January while they were working on a pipeline. But what will they have done in this situation? Increased the numbers if they fought back or keep it at same number by keeping calm?
According to the Governor Ortom Emmanuel’s self defense advice, the Benue people are expected to tidy up the life threatening gap the incompetence of the Police force has caused the community, and resort to jungle justice to battle the armed herdmen? Is this an advice or a suicide mission? What happened to setting up a special force to ensure security? Express your passion in comment section.
