Ex-President Obasanjo’s Aliance for new Nigeria has condemned President Buhari and his administration for holding campaigns in the guise of presidential visits despite the current situation of things in the country. Coming from an aex president who stayed long in power and even attempted a third term, is Obasanjo;s reaction to Buhari’s campaign justifyable?
Right from the time Obasanjo sent his explosive open letter to President early this year, there have several indications that his concerns might be beyond contributing his quota as a concerned ex-leader. Coming out to point at the several shortcomings of the current administration rather, don’t you think Obasanjo’s actions are more of political than advisory?
Indeed, one might say Obasanjo has every right to address the current administration if he wishes to, but this does not negate the fact that his time as president had a lot of shortcomings. With a presidential election that was tagged as one of the most rigged elections, don’t you think following Obasanjo;s advisory role might just place us on the same path of compromised elections as his time?
For Buhari on the other hand, one record that he has set for himself in office is the title of the most travelled president. While many things go on unsettled in Nigeria, Buhari has successfully travelled almost around the world and as well raveled across many states in the country. With what seems like courtesy visits on the surface, level don’t you think Buhari seems to pay too much attention on his 2019 bid that he forgets to address pressing issues?
