Former president Jonathan, while receiving an aspirant for the chairmanship of the Peoples Democratic Party, Tunde Adeniran opined that the Buhari administration has failed in running the affairs of the nation because it has not been able to reduce fuel price despite a drop in the global price of crude oil
Reports have it that Adeniran and other top PDP politicians visited Jonathan to seek his support as efforts are being made to rebuild the party through plans to hold a successful national convention in December to elect national officers of the party.
This however did not attract the fancy of many Nigerians as did his address when former President Goodluck Jonathan had the opportunity to address members of the PDP. He admonished them to learn the art of playing opposition by closing ranks and repositioning the party to defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress in 2019. In retrospect, the ex-president attributed his defeat at the 2015 election to massive propaganda orchestrated from high places claiming that his government performed better than those who ousted him especially in the area of fuel price reduction.
This does not go without a quick reminder of the popular Ojota protest that rocked many airwaves in January 2012 when fuel price was increased drastically in Nigeria due to the sudden removal of fuel subsidy.
In reaction, some have opined that if Jonathan will claim saint on how he ran the affairs of Nigeria he better not forget that his administration was not a bed of roses, not even anything close as Nigerians had their fair share of a poorly managed government even in the affairs of fuel price.
On the flip side, PMB might have not been able to regulate the fuel price as Jonathan pin pointed but it is important to note that many of the setbacks faced in the current administration are offshoots of the previous administration led by GEJ.
On both sides of the coin, can it be asserted that ex-president Jonathan has no stand in judging the current administration as his argument will as well gain him no favors in the 2019 elections?
Well, Nigerians are giving their opinion on this.
Am quite pleased with Goodluck Jonathan’s newly acquired vocal&pro active stance.Who will dare tell OBJ not to criticise any Govt in power
