While many of you are yet to get over Science Student and C Ronaldo, Olamide has stormed the trend of Gwara Gwara with his new track owo Shayo. With a track title that suggests alcoholism, how do you think this new party Jam would fare in the hands of the ever critical music lovers?
From the title of the song, you already sense some form of vulgarity. In lame man’s parlance, the song title “Owo SHayo” means “money for alcohol”, thus for an act who’s major hit tracks Wo and Science student got banned because of its explicit content, would you have expected him to trail along that path again?
Indeed, no amount of prosecution or banning can limit the flow of creativity that an entertainer exhumes but can’t the creativity be void of vulgar content? For an act like Olamide who is getting perpetual for the adult rated content that follows his music; especially the lyrics and the videos, how long do you think it would take before this trend begins to affect his brand as an artiste?
Speaking of examples, there is no denial Olamide is gradually growing to be a mentor and role model to many younger acts in the entertainment industry. With two new acts Lyta and Limerick in his label, don’t you think his controversial music content might begin to influence the kind of music these young ones produce as well?
