The Lagos state police command has paraded 5 of its SARS officials who allegedly attempted to extort and harass one Mr. Immanuel James in Okota area of Lagos. Indeed this is a new development in getting hold of randy SARS officials, but how far can this go?
According to reports from Linda Ikeji’s blog, the officers numbering five are from the Ipakodo Base of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) and not the Ikeja Unit as was previously reported.
You would agree that the police force indeed deserves some applauds for how they were able to identify the real culprits in due time. Hence, looking forward to more of such impressive actions, would you conclude that the SARS menace might come to an end soon?
Last year several cases of police brutality were reported, especially inhuman treatment from the SARS operatives in Lagos and outside Lagos. Entering the New Year, the end SARS campaign grew louder with their inhuman actions on celebrities like Praiz and Tijan amongst others. Although there were some arrests, prosecutions and layoffs in the force as result, this did not deter the randy officers from their attempted robbery on Immanuel James last week. Hence with hopes for a lasting solution, what more measures would you suggest be employed to tackle the SARS menace?
