The longest running TV series in Nigeria is heading for a whopper of a milestone and it is interesting to know that Nigerians have followed the events of the town, Reel Studios and Odyssey Pictures for 2000 nights.
The Nigerian Soap Opera which aired for the first time in August 2008, has created remarkable characters such as Shalewa, Phillip Ade-Williams, Soji, Brenda, Chuks, Titi K and Sheila, and for nine years, “Tinsel” has continued to introduce talented actors to the Nigerian film audience.
The series does to only boast of Popular series can boast of, not just being one of the country’s most watched soap operas, but also the only show that has managed to match-make three couples. First there was Iyke Okechuckwu and Florence Uwaleke who happened to play the roles of husband and wife in the soap opera. The happy couple tied the knot in real life with their traditional marriage in 2013 and welcomed a beautiful baby girl the following year. Next came Nigeria’s Damilola Adegbite and Ghanaian hunk, Chris Attoh.The on-screen lovers finally admitted to their off-screen relationship in 2014 after much media speculations. Shortly after, they announced the coming of their baby, followed by their engagement ceremony. Their wedding took place in Accra, Ghana a few months after the birth of their son. Final Osas Ighodaro and her handsome Gbenro Ajibade. The couple successfully kept their romance out of public eye for more than a year before finally admitting that they were an item. They got engaged in 2014 and got married in a glamorous 2015 ceremony that took place in Brooklyn, U.S.A. After all this time, the much anticipated 2000th episode airs today, March 23, 2017. All work and no play they say, make Jack a dull boy.
