Many impressions over time have always shown that many Nigerian artistes are too proud to connect with their many fans at the grassroots especially those theat show unflinching support for their craft. Looking at how much of time he acts need to spend on their brands and fans worldwide, would you say they don’t do enough?
Following the trending post by Rihana on her children fans from Nigeria, more talsk and table shaking have spilled out throwing anonymous jabs and shades at pur so called Nigerian artistes. The video Rihana posted was a dnce video by some Nigerian dance grouo and they danced to Wizkids Soko in the video. Looking at how wizkid did not recognize the childrens efforts yet Rihana appreciated their dance spirits, can we then conclude that Wizkid does not appreciate acts on the grassroots level?
You would recall early this year that Wizkid was back home to the streets in Surulere with his fans. He was sure to mingle freely with them, recognizing the love they have for him. On recognizing diehard fans as well, unforgettable is young Ahmed who go signed to star boy music because of his impressive performance at the Wizkid live concert. Hence don’t you think it will be too wrong to easily conclude or judge?
It might interest you to know that Rihanna simply responded to the post by the children because her previous post was their video. However, we can’t deny the fact that Wizkid had seen the video by the children and simply liked and commented when Rihanna posted it. Presenting both acts side by side do you think another act would have given more response than Wizkid did if it was his song on the video?
