It is quite obvious that Nigerians are very tired of the current government and as much as they want a new leader, a greater percentage opine that a leader from the younger generation would be best for Nigeria.
Well if this does not speak for everybody, We are aware of a youth body that speaks in this line. There is nothing wrong with having a young president but the issue is the kind of person we’re bringing into power.
What if he is a younger breed of the old flock? With the trend of political God-Fatherism, we cannot ignore the possibility of having the young leader being influenced by the previous ones and incorporating their failed system in his rule.
The youth body under the umbrella of the League of National Patriots stated through their National Chairman at a press conference in Abeokuta that the solution to the country’s challenges is to have vibrant and intelligent youth in Power in the coming election.
The group also announced their intention to mobilize 1million youths with PVCs to vote in a candidate of their choice in the next elections. Impressive we could say their plan looks, but how feasible is this in Nigeria, without a recognized political party and huge sponsors as much as those from the recognized political parties.
Asides these reactions however, some comments have followed a post about this on vanguard newspaper’s online platform. A greater percentage of the comments take the argument from the need to have a young president to a discussion about President Buhari’s rule.
In other opinions, there is a cry for the need to elect a leader that will not spend so much time in the hospital and not attend to the issues of the nation.
